THE ESSENTIAL CHRISTMAS COLLECTION DELIVERS EARLY
HOLIDAY CHEER WITH POWERHOUSE ARTIST LINEUP ON OCT. 19

12-Song Album Gathers Voices Ranging From Casting Crowns, Third Day, Brandon Heath and Jars of Clay to Michael W. Smith, Rebecca St. James, Matt Maher and Tenth Avenue North For This Yearís Must Have Christmas Soundtrack Experience

(Nashville, Tenn.) Aug. 25, 2010 ñ On Oct 19, the joy and wonder of the Christmas season will be available in the new ìThe Essential Christmas Collection,î a vibrant 12-song project featuring many of Christian musicís most admired artists, with holiday songs from Third Day, Casting Crowns, Michael W. Smith, Jars of Clay, Rebecca St. James, Brandon Heath, Tenth Avenue North, Building 429 and Matt Maher along with newcomers, Revive, Kerrie Roberts and Anthem Lights. The collection includes stunning versions of Christmas classics as well as two original tunes---Heathís poignant ìThe Night Before Christmasî and Smithís original ìAll is Well.î

The set opens with Third Dayís powerful rendition of ìAngels We Have Heard on Highî as lead vocalist Mac Powell breathes new life into this seasonal classic and its familiar, joyous chorus, putting the Third Day creative stamp on this holiday favorite. The musically influential singer-songwriter/worship leader Matt Maher delivers a warm and prayerful version of ìSilent Night,î evoking the tender spirit of the season, and ìThe First Noelî shines as reinvented by Aussie imports Revive.

Over the years, Jars of Clay has become known for putting its creative spin on Christmas music and they do that again with, ìIt Came Upon a Midnight Clear,î delivering a gentle, understated version of one of the seasonís most beloved classics. Rebecca St. James lends her distinctive voice to ìO Little Town of Bethlehemî while Building 429 serves up the timeless ìWhat Child Is This?î and Casting Crowns delivers the buoyant, ìJoy to the World.î

Newcomer Kerrie Roberts lends her soulful, soaring vocals to ìOí Holy Nightî in one of the most memorable tracks on the album and never has the good news of Jesusí birth sounded more heartfelt and compelling than on Tenth Avenue Northís ìGo Tell It on the Mountain.î

Michael W. Smithís iconic ìAll is Well,î written for his very first Christmas album and now featured on this collection, is one of his favorite songs ever recorded. Smith notes, ìThere was just something special about it. Iíll never forget when I wrote it. It was such an emotional moment. To this day, I still get really moved when I hear it. Itís one of my favorite things Iíve written.î

Leading into Christmas, Kerrie Roberts and Michael W. Smith are among the artists who will be on tour during the 2010 holiday season, affording fans a chance to experience a few of the songs from this new collection, live.

With its powerhouse lineup and timeless holiday favorites, The Essential Christmas Collection will quickly become this seasonís soundtrack and the premiere Christmas collection music lovers will enjoy for decades to come.
