MICHAEL W. SMITH JOINS ALL-STAR LINEUP
FOR “NASHVILLE RISING” BENEFIT CONCERT
(Nashville, Tenn.) June 23, 2010 - GRAMMY, AMA and Dove Award winning artist, Michael W. Smith, performed two moving songs (“Place In This World” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water”) before a sold out crowd during last night’s “Nashville Rising” benefit concert.
The event, held at Bridgestone Arena, was spearheaded by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Proceeds from the concert will benefit The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which is working to address flood relief and recovery in Middle Tennessee. Event organizers expect to announce the total raised for flood relief tomorrow.
Artists on the lineup included: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Montgomery Gentry, Amy Grant, Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, LeAnn Rimes, Julie Roberts, Blake Shelton, Michael W. Smith, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and ZZ Top.
Special guests included: Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock, Governor Phil Bredesen, Mayor Karl Dean and Jeff Fisher, head coach of the NFL's Tennessee Titans.
